Korean People's Theater Association(KPTA) has rooted in Korean traditional artistic formulas and spiritual attitude and formidable life leaded by people and their vivid working place have been re-created in this association's member theatre groups.

In 1988 Korean People's Theater Association was built by various theater groups which had made first step in people's theater movement with different colours and in different provinces since 1970's. Now 21 regular theater groups and 11 associate theater groups belong to KPTA.
 

 

KPTA is a union of theater workers who have made an passionate effort to overcome the oppressed presence of people and to prepare for the re-unification of Korea through theater activities which are focused on carving the vision of people into the stage with traditional art.

Every year, KPTA hosts Korean People's Theater Festival Hanmadnag and Madang theater festivals of other provinces and had hosted 'Totem Pole Ritual for the Whole One', 'Dong-Hak Centennial Celebration Historical Ritual', and 'Gwa-Cheon Open Air Theatre Festival'
